The "Ugly" of Africa
Just like what European countries think, Africa is totally a dark continent or the heart of the darkness. On this continent, wars, diseases and famines control almost everything. The life we have now maybe unimaginable for Africans.
In Africa, war is everywhere. People cannot decide that who is really the justice. They are fighting for their own profits. However, African people are innocent. So many innocent people are suffering from the continuous wars. Some of them choose to leave their homeland and escape to other “peaceful” countries. Africans have no choice. People are also dying from wars. Africans can’t do anything to the coming of the death. I still remember the article I read about the Congo. Militants were controlling the village. People had to give 20% of their income to the militants. They needed to provide the food though they didn’t really have enough food. Those militants would kill villagers if they don’t pay money or give the food. When government forces came, the situation doesn’t get better. They raped women and asked food and drink from the villagers. There is no law and justice on this land . U.N peacekeeper can’t really help them a lot. When militants see the blue cap, which means U.N peacekeeper, they run away. Also peacekeepers don’t really understand the local languages.
Ebola started in the east part of Africa and caused innumerable deaths in Africa. Now, the Ebola has spread to more and more countries in Africa. Lack of medication and the senses of diseases intensify the expansion of the Ebola. Even though United Nations is trying to control it, new cases are still increasing. Hundreds and hundreds people are dying!
When people are focusing on Ebola, however, famine is still a huge problem. Thousands and Thousands of children are dying from famine. In Somalia, the poorest country in Africa, so many people are suffering. Somalis escaped from the famine in Somalia and lived in another country. A somali woman who escaped from her homeland said that her family needed to get water by 3 hours every day and got a little food from the UN. However, obviously, the food is not enough. She just buried her sons and daughters a few months ago, and her newborn looks very weak, too. Graves are all over the place where she lives. United Nations did solve some problems, but the lives of African people are still strenuous.
